Honduran Tortillas with Bean and Cheese
Baleadas HondureñasOne of the most popular dishes in Honduras is a warm flour tortilla folded over a creamy filling of refried beans and cheese. This famous dish, called a Baleada, can be eaten anywhere at any time, from breakfast and lunch to snacks and dinner. The beauty of this recipe is that it is adaptable to the ingredients you have on hand. Start with a warm flour tortilla, fill with GOYA® Traditional Refried Red Beans, crumbled cheese and crema, then add other fillings, like avocados, scrambled eggs or chopped tomatoes for a delicious taste of authentic Honduran cooking.

¼ cup GOYA® Vegetable Oil
1 small yellow onion, quartered
1 can (16 oz.) GOYA® Refried Red Beans – Volteados Style
8 oz. sour cream
½ cup heavy cream
¼ tsp. GOYA® Salt
12 GOYA® Flour Tortillas - Tacos, warmed according to package instructions
2 cups crumbled white cheese
|1.||Heat oil in medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook, flipping occasionally, until onion is lightly browned and oil absorbs flavor from onion, about 5-7 minutes; discard onion, retaining oil in pan.|
|2.||Add refried beans to skillet with oil. Cook, stirring often, until oil is absorbed and beans are heated through, about 3 minutes; remove beans from heat and keep warm.|
|3.||In medium bowl, stir together sour cream, heavy cream and salt; set aside.|
|4.||To assemble, spread refried beans onto warm tortillas; drizzle with sour cream mixture, sprinkle with cheese and top with desired garnishes. Serve immediately.|
