Donation Includes Over 100,000 lbs of Food to Those Affected by the Storm Including The Florida Keys

After the passage of Hurricane Irma, and recognizing the importance of the aid needed by thousands of people in Florida, including The Florida Keys, Goya Foods of Florida has begun distributing more than 100,000 pounds of nonperishable products to those affected by the storm.

"Giving back is part of who we are at Goya, and right now it is our duty to help those who are suffering due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Irma,” said Frank Unanue, president of Goya Foods of Florida. “Hurricane Irma left thousands of Floridians without homes or power, especially in The Florida Keys. As we recover, Goya wants to make sure we get as much food as possible to those who need it the most.”

The help provided by Goya Foods of Florida will be channeled through reliable non-profit organizations, including Feeding America, Food for the Poor and local efforts in the Miami, FL area, which will be sent directly to The Florida Keys. These organizations are committed to the communities they serve and are operating in the affected areas, ensuring that the aid will reach those in need. By channeling donations through these non-profits, Goya will provide relief to the devastated areas of the Florida Keys, the Leeward Islands, as well as eight large food banks across the state of Florida. Goya has pledged to donate the following items:

  • Coconut Water
  • Saltine Crackers Goya
  • Peas and Carrots
  • Whole Kernel Corn
  • Mango Nectar
  • Luncheon Meats
  • Malta Loose
  • Guava Soda
  • Pineapple Soda
  • Fruit Punch Soda
  • Sparkling Water
  • Plantain Chips
  • RTE (Ready to eat) Black Beans
  • RTE Red Beans
  • Oatmeal Smoothies

"We are hoping for a quick emotional and physical recovery of all those affected by this catastrophic hurricane that devastated so many in the state of Florida," added Unanue.
